Africa.
As part of the BroadReach
team, the program officer will be working with senior healthcare leaders, such
as the private sector health leadership, Ministry of Health and other
government officials, doctors and nurses, and representatives of multinational
organizations and donors to develop a disease monitoring and response
system.
Specific functional areas
include:
- Creation and
implementation of mentorship programs for private doctors and healthcare
providers on topics such as HIVAIDS (including ART), TB, malaria and
reproductive health
- Assist in
creation of referral programs between government and private healthcare
facilities
- Government
and private stakeholder risk management
- Partnership
development
Key Responsibilities
- Create and
implement a mentorship program for private healthcare professionals on the
topics of HIVAIDS (including ART), TB, malaria and reproductive
- Determine
overall program vision, strategy, goals and design
- Identify and
adapt existing and approved education packages from Ministry of Health and
Kenyan Medical Association for private health providers
- Deliver
education and mentorship packages to private health providers
- Monitor program
impact and implement continuous improvement based upon stakeholder
feedback
- Manage
relationships with key stakeholders in government, private sector and
within the project
- Assist in
creation of a referral program between private and government health
facilities
- Identify key
issues and bottlenecks preventing appropriate referral
- Create
process, tools, and materials for referral program
- Train
private and government healthcare providers on use of the tools for the
referral system
Required Qualifications
- Advanced
clinical degree (MO, CO, Nurse)
- Over 5 years
of work experience with health programs in economically underdeveloped,
resource-poor environments
- Success in
creating and conducting clinical training programs, including mentorship
programs
- Proven ability
to think creatively, aka “outside the box”
- Familiarity
with Microsoft Office Suite products, including proficiency in Excel,
PowerPoint, and Word
- Fluency in
written and spoken English
- Demonstrated
strong communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills with proven
ability to foster goodwill and build consensus at all organizational
levels.
Desired Skills
- Experience
working in Western Kenya
- Comfortable
in rapidly changing and uncertain environments, including multi-tasking
- Able and
willing to travel extensively, as work demands
- High level
of professionalism and leadership combined with a passion for health
issues.
- Self
motivated with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
- Fluency in
multiple local Kenyan languages including Swahili and other local dialects
- Qualified
candidate who work and live in the A+ Zone one area will have an added
advantage
