An FMCG located in Nairobi is looking for;

  Declaration Clerk - Import/Export

A.
 Job Objective

Ensure effective and efficient coordination of all imports and exports transactions
 

B. Duties
  • Ensuring proper and smooth day to day running of all Operations
  • Tracking shipments, updating customers on arrival information and ensuring correct shipping documentation.
  • Liaising closely with customers ,and internal departments to coordinate the import and export of goods
  • Coordination on all shipments including preparation of all documentation, working with shipping line, airlines, freight forwarders and inland carriers, providing updates, obtaining POD’s and charges, and performing all necessary data entry;
  • Customer service to include initiating and follow-up with customers and carriers to resolve problems, answer questions, correspondence and reports;
  • Proper record keeping of all Documentation and Accounts
  • Prepare TREO/EGPSP documents and submit to Treasury for approval
  • Process bonds with approved controls from Treasury with the Insurance service provider and customs
  • Follow up for Sugar permit with Kenya Sugar board and other licenses for statutory compliance
  • Reconcile the company’s imports under TREO/EGPSP for audit with customs
  • Account for all customs bonds under TREO/EGPSP issued by KRA and Insurance Service Provider by cancelling bonds with customs and Insurance Service Provider after KRA audit
  • Ensure compliance to all regulations regarding Imports and Exports.
  • Account for the guarantee facility allocated by the company and Insurance Service Provider
  • Follow up correspondence between various statutory bodies and the Company e.g KRA, KBS, KPA, etc. including resolving Customs related and entry issues.
  • Obtain Customs release for Exports and truck border consignments
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with customs office
  • Liaise with suppliers for timely shipments, follow up for documents to be received and goods cleared well in time to avoid late documentation charges, storage charges and demurrages.
  • To carry out any other duties that may be assigned by the Management from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Clearing & Forwarding
  • KRA certification
  • Working Knowledge of KRA online Systems
  • Computer skills
  • 2-4 years progressive working experience in a busy organisation
