Programme Officer 

Our client is a membership based body that aims to empower women in business to grow and excel and to be the voice of women in Kenya on socio-economic issues.

The organization is also a member of the African Business Women’s Network (ABWN) a large Pan-African network that envisions making Africa boarderless for women in business. 

We seeking to recruit a highly motivated and result oriented individual for this position.

The Programme Officer will work collaboratively with others staff and will contribute to analysis and design of new programming.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Programme Planning and Management
  • Provide technical support and contribute towards program design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs
  • Oversee and execute all administrative and organizational tasks associated with programmes
  • Ensure all the required reports are prepared and are of high quality, shared and filed on time.
  • Participate in quarterly and other scheduled program performance review meetings.
  • Induct interns and junior programme staff on proven technical methodologies and available resources.
2. Communications
  • Maintain regular and open lines of communication with ABWN Hub leadership and other ABWN Hubs by regularly participating on the ABWN Portal, sharing event reports and content with other Hubs, and participating in monthly webinars.
  • Contribute to quarterly Network newsletter.
  • Create/edit press releases for the organization's events.
  • Monitor media and analysis and provide “clipping service” of articles and links to coverage of the organization's events and activities.
  • Regularly solicit stories from association members that reflect the impact of their involvement in the association has had on them personally and professionally (at least 1 per month).
  • Develop promotional materials for the organization's events.
3. Reporting
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documents evidencing sub-grant program expenditures.
  • Submit timely reports using templates provided
  • Develop an article for the quarterly ABWN Newsletter, Hub Highlights, detailing Hub activities
  • Develop quarterly reports that include progress against objectives, budget comparisons (actual vs. planned), activity summary, impact stories
  • Document “success stories” and other anecdotal information to enhance the overall quality of performance reports to the donors.
  • Conduct baseline and impact surveys for program participants and report results
4. Participation in Africa Businesswomen’s Network Activities
  • Attend relevant training programs offered to Hubs for personal and professional development (e.g., webinar training sessions and discussions)
  • Manage or support the association’s work in capacity building, specifically the use of the Self-Assessment diagnostic tool, and follow-on gap analysis, prioritization and action planning
  • Actively participate in new initiatives or programs of the Network (e.g., input on Portal development, Network sustainability)
  • Attend 1-2 regional Network Hub meetings/year
Qualifications
  • Holder of a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences. A Master of Arts degree will be an added advantage

  • Practical experience in use of relevant MS Office applications.
  • 3 years work experience in a comparable position
  • Analytical skills
  • Technical skills to effectively manage and perform the Secretariat’s activities in a manner that consistently produce high quality of service.
  • Excellent Writing Skills
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • Demonstrable fundraising experience.
