Our client, Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a registered trust of the ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Episcopal Conference (KEC) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). 

This faith-based drug supply organization has close to 27 years of service having been started in 1986 to improve access to quality healthcare.

MEDS has set on an ambitious strategic transformation path to restructure and offer better service to the Kenya health community. 


In an effort to achieve its strategic plan, it is now seeking to identify and bring on board well-qualified, experienced and high-performing talent to participate in this exciting journey.

The organization is recruiting for the following position to support delivery of strategic goals. 
 
Internal Audit Assistant

Ref: HCSS/IAA-08

Reporting to the Internal Auditor, the incumbent will be required to provide internal audit support in the organization.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting assigned routine audits of various operations as detailed in the audit plan timetable under the direction of the Internal Auditor;
  • Drafting audit reports on findings and observations made from assigned tasks for review by the Internal Auditor;
  • Carry out weekly spot checks on operational areas to confirm proper servicing of customer orders and adherence to procedures to assure good custody of organizational assets;
  • Participate in risk assessment of the organization’s processes on a quarterly basis;
  • Carry out investigations for audit recommendations
Required Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant Two (CPA (II)) or related qualification
  • Knowledge of Computer Assisted Auditing Tools will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of internal auditing techniques and standards
  • Good Communication and Inter Personal skills
  • Be a person of integrity
  • Have the ability to maintain confidentiality and remain independent

Business Analyst

Ref: HCSS/BA-07

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, the Business Analyst will be responsible for providing information and statistical analysis regarding markets, products, competitors and customers.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyse data to evaluate existing and potential products and markets.
  • Analyse the effectiveness of marketing strategies and campaigns, and recommend appropriate action.
  • Undertake and manage specific research on market conditions and changes in the industry that may affect sales and the market trends.
  • Undertake competitive analysis by forecasting expected behaviours and plans of competitors in the identified markets.
  • Conduct market research on entire product portfolio, competitor activities and consumer preferences.
  • Gather customer feedback on the entire product portfolio for customer satisfaction
  • Determine factors affecting brand performance and recommend plans to counter negative effects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors in a Business related degree or Economics
  • Minimum of at least three (3) years working experience in a busy marketing department
  • Have evident business acumen
  • Strong understanding of customer market and dynamics

Marketing Officer - Quotations

Ref: HCSS/MOQ-06

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for the preparation of pro forma invoices/quotations and coordination of export documents processing.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and send all quotations/pro formas by deadline dates for consideration.
  • Prepare daily quotations report and monthly quotations summary for decision making.
  • Provide operational seamless linkages between the quotation desk, order processing, stock control, purchasing and credit control sections to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in converting the quotations into orders, for increased business growth.
  • Coordinate export document processing and verification of invoices for export documentation to facilitate timely processing of payment.

Purchasing Officer

Ref: HCSS/PO-05

The Purchasing Officer will report to the Purchasing Manager and will be responsible for the procurement of trade and non-trade commodities and services.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Source for stock items, non-stock items and services for customer satisfaction.
  • Source for departmental and capital items for cost effectiveness to meet organizational requirements.
  • Participate in the tender process for efficiency.
  • Maintain procurement related records for information and decision making.
  • Handle returns, complaints and other issues pertaining to non-stock items to facilitate timely resolving of client issues.
  • Place overseas orders, liaise with clearing agent and verify transactional documents to facilitate payment.
  • Update supplier performance records for accuracy and decision making.
  • Participate in preparing end month reports for review.
Required Qualifications

Training Officer

Ref: HCSS/TO-04

Reporting to the Training Manager, the Training Officer will be responsible for building capacity of the health workers at MEDS.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Identifying training needs for curriculum development
  • Participating in the annual training program preparation for planning
  • Participating in identification of facilitators for training facilitation
  • Preparing the training timetables for the specific trainings
  • Coordinate or conduct the actual trainings for customer satisfaction
  • Prepare reports after each training for reference and decision making
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma in Pharmacy
  • 3 years working experience in a similar position

Warehouse Manager

Ref: HCSS/WM-03

The Warehouse Manager will report to the Head of Operations and will be responsible for warehousing, inventory control and order processing at MEDS.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate warehousing, inventory control and order processing for efficiency, customer satisfaction and integrity of stock.
  • Review quantification and forecasting of stock items, for availability.
  • Plan and executive continuous and annual stock take for accountability.
  • Approve stock related supplier invoices for payment and accountability.
  • Develop, maintain and disseminate appropriate procedures for efficiency.
  • Ensure efficient performance management to achieve operational objectives and targets.
  • Plan and control budgets to optimize utilization of resources and accountability.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in pharmacy
  • Training in management related field or supply chain management
  • 5 years hands-on experience in busy pharmaceutical or medical supply chain

Marketing and Communications Manager

Ref: HCSS/MCM-02

Reporting to the Head of Customer Service, the incumbent will be expected to develop, establish and maintain marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate market research, market intelligence, market information and data and use the information for benchmarking and formulating marketing strategies for growth and sustainability of the organization.
  • Managing all accounts through building strong relationships by sustaining rapport with the Clients, making periodic visits; exploring specific needs and anticipating new opportunities.
  • Monitor, review and report on all marketing activities and results for decision making.
  • Determine annual and gross-surplus plans by forecasting and developing annual  and monthly sales quotas for regions; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products; analyzing trends and results; establishing pricing strategies; recommending selling prices; monitoring costs, competition and supply, and demand.
  • Create a respected and motivated marketing team with the right attitude and behavior, build market place networks with many diverse contacts, plan, set and monitor monthly targets for the marketing team and train the marketing team on how to evaluate their networks and how to close deals.
  • Manage MEDS publicity strategies and evaluate the advertising and promotional programs to ensure it is compatible with the target audience
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget and deliver marketing activities within budget.
  • Write and edit in-house magazines such as MEDS update.
  • Ensure MEDS website is effectively managed for publicity.
  • Coordinate MEDS Corporate Events
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (Marketing)
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Pharmacy
  • At least 3 years working experience in a similar position
  • Ability to carry out financial planning and strategy implementation

Human Resources Manager

Ref: HCSS/HRM-01

Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will be expected to contribute in capacity and competency development for improved organizational performance.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the organization’s competence needs and ideal complement in support of business strategies and objectives and advise management accordingly;
  • Review HR procedures to ensure staff discipline and compliance with labour laws;
  • Liaise with HODs to implement performance management and merit review programme;
  • Budgetary control to optimize utilization of resources and accountability;
  • Ensure safe working conditions to minimize hazards and meet statutory obligations;
  • Identify and implement training and development of staff to enhance productivity;
  • Ensure that the Staff Welfare Committee adheres to procedures and policies for accountability;
  • Manage medical scheme in liaison with insurance brokers
  • Foster effective communication within the organization
  • Organize staff welfare activities and functions for motivation and teamwork;
Required Qualifications
  • Masters qualifications in Human Resources or relevant field
  • Business degree qualification
  • At least 5 years working experience, of which at least the last 3 years in a senior HR position

Employment is on a 3year renewable contract and a competitive package will be negotiated with the right candidate.
