National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body
constituted under the Housing Act Cap 117 Laws of Kenya. The Corporation wishes
to recruit for the following positions:
General Manager Technical Operations
- REF: NHC/GMTO/12/2012 (Re-advertisement)
Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager, Technical Operations will be responsible for coordinating all aspects related to the execution of housing development projects in the Corporation.
He/She will advise the Managing Director on all aspects of
project planning, coordination and implementation.
The successful candidate will lead a team of technical personnel
in the Architectural,
Quantity Surveying, Land Surveying and Engineering sections responsible for design supervision and administration of construction projects.

Job Requirements
- A
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Building Economics, Architecture, Land
Survey, or an equivalent in Built Environment.
- Be
registered with relevant technical professional bodies for a minimum
period of 8 years.
- Have
fourteen (14) years work experience, eight (8) of which should have been
served at a Senior Management Position.
- Possess
Project Management skills, with excellent interpersonal skills and be
computer literate
- Be
assertive, flexible, results oriented and of high integrity.
A Masters Degree in the above disciplines will be an added
advantage.
General Manager Estates
- REF: NHC/GME/12/2012 (Re-advertisement)
Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager - Estates will be responsible for providing overall leadership in the area of Estates Management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the formulation
and implementation of NHC Estate Management Policies.
He/She will provide leadership in the newly created Estates
Division and advise the Managing Director on all Land related matters.
The General Manager will also oversee valuations of Corporation’s
properties; undertake estates administration, leasing, letting, liaising with
other sections on acquisition of title documents, advising on property trends
and prices, enforcing rent collections, repairs and maintenance of NHC
buildings and estates, marketing and sale of developed properties, undertaking
user reaction surveys and all other incidental matters.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors
Degree in Land Economics or equivalent from a recognized University.
- Be
registered as a full member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK)
for a minimum period of eight (8) years.
- Have
fourteen (14) years work experience in Estates, Housing or Property
Management, eight (8) of which should have been served at a Senior
Management Position.
- Be
conversant with prevailing Property Laws and Housing Management issues.
- Be
a team player who is flexible and diligent.
- Be
computer literate.
A Masters degree in Housing Administration, Estate Management,
Maintenance or Property Management will be an added advantage.
General Manager Business Development
- REF: NHC/GMBD/12/2012 (Re-advertisement)
Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager, Business Development will be responsible for coordinating and advising the Managing Director on all aspects of Corporate Planning as well as Business Strategy development, marketing and research.
She/He will be charged with spearheading the strategic
management process in the Corporation, review of existing business structures
and identification of new business opportunities .
The General Manager will manage the Corporate Planning portfolio
of the Corporation by ensuring appropriate business planning, appropriate
feasibility studies and Environmental Impact Assessment.
She/He will also be responsible for projects forecasting, programmes
appraisal, performance contracts monitoring and evaluations, alignment of NHC
programmes to Government Strategies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors
Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, Statistics or
Mathematics
- Have
a relevant professional registration or qualification.
- Have
fourteen (14) years work experience eight (8) of which should have been
served at a Senior Management Position.
- Be
conversant with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)
regulations and the Physical Planning Act.
- Posses
good interpersonal skills and a broad understanding of the housing
industry in Kenya.
- Be
a team player, customer focused and change oriented.
- Be
computer literate.
A Masters degree in Business Management or an equivalent will be
an added advantage.
General Manager Corporate Services

Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager Corporate Services will be responsible for the efficient management of the Corporation’s Corporate Services Division which consists of Human Resources, InformationCommunication Technology, Procurement, General Administration and Support Services.
The General Manager Corporate Services will be responsible for the following:
- Provide
leadership and oversight in the Corporation’s Corporate Services Division
for effective service delivery.
- Provide
advice to the Board of Directors and Management on all matters relating to
the functions of the various divisions.
- Coordinate
preparation of annual budget for the Corporation’s Corporate Services
Division
- Facilitating
proper deployments and utilization of the Corporations Human Capital
- Formulate
and guide on all policy matters in the Corporation as well as developing a
regulatory framework that promote positive values that are in line with
emerging trends.
- Ensuring
the Corporation has adequate capacity in the area of Information &
Communication Technology (ICT) in terms of connectivity and ensures that
it keeps apprised with new developments in this field.
- Responsible
for Capacity Building and Management Development activities in the
Corporation.
- Responsible
for spearheading change management in the Corporation.
Job Requirements
- A
Bachelors and Masters degree in Management Information Systems, Human
Resources Management, Public Administration or equivalent.
- Have
at least 10 years experience in Management of support and/or
administration services, 5 years of which should have been served in a
senior management position.
- Experience
in Human Resources matters at a senior management level will be an added
advantage.
- Have
experience in leading a team of multi-disciplinary personnel
- Be
highly motivated, computer literate and have skills in Change Management
processes.
- Have
professional registration or qualification from a relevant body.
- Be
a team player with good interpersonal skills and a person of high
integrity.
General Manager Finance
- REF: NHC/GMF/12/2012
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for advising the Managing Director on all financial management aspects.
The candidate should have outstanding professional competence in
Financial Management and administrative capability required for the
responsibility at the level of General Manager.
He/She will be charged with among others the responsibility of:
- Providing
leadership to the finance division as Head of Division
- Management
of all the Corporation’s finances, systems and operational procedures.
- Overseeing
implementation of the NHC Financial Management System, accounting processes
and internal controls.
- Development
and implementation of the Corporation’s short and long term operation
plans
- Ensuring
compliance with both internal and external reporting requirements
including accurate preparation of financial and nonfinancial data.
- Budgeting
and ensuring effective and optimal utilisation of Corporation’s finances.
- Undertaking
financial analysis of the Corporation and advising the managing director
and the board as appropriate.
- Formulation
and periodic review of the Corporation’s financial policies and procedures
to ensure rational uses of funds.
- Sourcing
and procurement of funds for NHC operations and overseeing their
investment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor
of Commerce degree (Accounting/Finance option) from a recognized
University or equivalent
- A
holder of CPA III (K) final or ACCA (final).
- Registered
Accountant for a period of eight (8) years and a member of the Institute
of Certified Public Accountants Kenya
- Possess
fourteen (14) years financial/accounting experience, eight (8) of which
must have been served at a Senior Management Position.
- Must
be computer literate
A Masters Degree in Business Administration will be an added

Corporation Secretary
- REF: NHC/CS/12/2012
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Corporation Secretary will be responsible for provision of Board secretarial services, preparation of the Board Charter, work plan and advising the Managing Director on legal implications of all decisions.
He/she will ensure that Board decisions are implemented and will be in charge of preparation of legal instruments and ensuring that employment contracts and decisions comply with the legal statutes.
He/she will supervise the activities of the Legal Unit.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor
of Law degree and Masters of Law or Master of Business Administration.
- Member
LSK or CPS (K) and Registered public secretary for 8 years.
- Have
fourteen (14) years work experience as a Legal Officer or Advocate 8 of
which are served at a senior management level.

Public Relations Officer
- REF: NHC/PRO/12/2012
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Public Relations Officer will be responsible for providing leadership in the area of public relations and promotion of the Corporation’s activities and corporate image.
The successful candidate will organize promotional activities,
events and issue commentaries on matters pertinent to the corporation and give
its perspective.
He/she will advice management on all matters of corporate
communication and shall be In charge of protocol matters including the
coordinating of all reception(s), Board and Management travels, tours and
customer care.
Job Requirements
- A
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or business administration from a
recognized University.
- Post
graduate Diploma in Public Relations or Journalism or its equivalent
- Possess
9 years relevant experience in the field of public relations field or
journalism
- Be
a member of a relevant professional body
- Be
mature, a team player and an effective communicator with good
interpersonal skills.
- Be
computer literate and with excellent interpersonal skills.
Chief Procurement Officer
- REF: NHC/CPO/12/2012
Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services, the Chief Procurement officer will head the procurement section in the corporation and will be responsible for procurement of goods works, and services in the Corporation.
He/she will be responsible for advising management on all
matters related to procurement and disposal of obsolete goods and idle assets
in line with the provisions of the Procurement and Disposal Act.
Job Requirements
- A
Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing option) degree or a bachelors degree in
Procurement or equivalent from recognized University and
- A
post graduate diploma in Procurement, Logistics and Supplies
Management
- Have
a Masters degree in a relevant discipline
- 12
years experience in Procurement and Supplies Management, seven(7) of which
should have been served at a senior level and two (2) years after
attaining the masters degree
- Member
of Institute of Supplies Management
- Be
computer literate
Senior ICT Officer
- REF: NHC/SIO/12/2012
Reporting to the ICT Manager, the Senior ICT Officer will be responsible for coordinating strategic and operational ICT initiatives which promote and support optimization of ICT usage in the corporation.
He/she will oversee the security of the system; ensure data
backup, end user support, troubleshooting, LAN & website administration as
well as monitoring and evaluating of the ICT master plan in the corporation.
Job Requirements
- Be
in possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or
Information Technology from a recognized university.
- Post
graduate diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology
- Have
nine (9) years experience in the field of ICT.
- Be
a member of a relevant professional body.
The positions of General Managers will be on a three (3) year
renewable contract term and the successful candidates will be subject to
performance contracting.
The rest will be on permanent and pensionable basis.
