Member, Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training
The Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST) is an organ of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PARLSCOM) established by law through the Parliamentary Service (Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training) Regulations, 2011.
The Parliamentary Service Commission seeks to recruit a person who is energetic and result oriented in the following position of non-executive Board Member of the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the member of the CPST Board, the successful candidate will together with other Board members be responsible for:
- Providing
policy direction for the Centre;
- Administering
the property and funds of the Centre in such manner and for such purposes
as shall promote the best interests of the Centre and Parliament;
- Receiving,
on behalf of the Centre or the National Assembly, gifts, donations, or
grants meant for the Centre; and
- Do
such other things the Commission may from time to time direct.
Qualifications
- A
lecturer at a recognized university at the level of senior lecturer or
above and who possesses knowledge and experience in capacity building,
training or research;
- Have
at least 10 years’ experience in senior management/academic/research
position;
- Widely
published as evidenced by refereed journal publications, university level
books, as well as project grants and awards;
- Demonstrated
competence in administrative, financial and academic leadership in an
academic/research environment;
- Outstanding
ability to communicate effectively and possession of good interpersonal
skills;
- Have
a good understanding of public administration and parliamentary
operations;
- Broad
awareness and knowledge of the factors and conditions shaping the
development of higher learning institutions; and
- Be
of high ethical standards, integrity and professionalism in accordance
with the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
A person appointed to this position shall serve for a term of
five years which shall, subject to the approval of the Parliamentary Service
Commission, be renewable for a further one term of five years;
