The University College invites applications from suitably qualified
and experienced persons with excellent academic credentials to fill the
position of Principal, Deputy Principal Administration planning and finance,
and Deputy Principal Academic Affairs for a term of five (5) years which may be
eligible for re-appointment for further one (1) term.
Principal of College
Ref. MR.U.C/01/2012
Reporting to the council, the successful candidate will be the
chief executive of the university college and shall be expected to contribute
greatly to the vision, mission and goals of the University College, development
and implementation of academic, research and extension services.
The appointed pioneer Principal will be dynamic, visionary, and
result oriented
person of high ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.
The Principal will have the overall mandate of establishing a strong academic, research and administrative foundation for the university college.
Qualifications and experience
·
A professor or associate professor with at least ten years
experience in senior management position in university;
·
Outstanding and internationally recognized scholarship record as
evidenced by referred journal publications(at least ten in the last five
years),university level books as well as project grants and awards;
·
Demonstrated competence in administrative and financial
leadership in an academic/research environment;
·
Outstanding ability to communicate effectively and possess
excellent interpersonal skills;
·
A good understanding of government financial and fiscal
policies, strategic planning and vision 2030 flagship projects, procurement and
disposal legal regimes;
·
Excellent understanding of the current trends in university
education and training in Kenya and globally and a broad awareness of the
factors and conditions shaping the development of university education in
Kenya;
·
Candidates who are holders of an MBA or its equivalent will have
an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the Chief Executive of the University College, the Principal
will be the academic,
research and Administrative head of the college working under the direction of
the council with the following duties and responsibilities;
·
To provide overall responsibility on the direction, organization
and the administration of academic programs of the university college;
·
Coordinate the development and implementation of the academic
and administrative policies of the university college in accordance with the
university master plan and strategic plan;
·
Maintain efficiency and good order of the university college and
ensure proper enforcement of the statutes and other college regulations;
·
Provide innovative and creative leadership in the areas of
finance, human resource, planning and infrastructural development, students’
affairs management and community linkages;
·
Play a key role in the facilitation and maintenance of linkages
with government/regulatory agencies and other local/international institutions
of higher learning;
·
Advice the council on financial matters regarding the
university;
·
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the university
college council.
Deputy Principal - Administration Planning and Finance

Qualifications and experience
·

Have proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and
development at university level;
·
Outstanding ability to communicate effectively and possess
excellent interpersonal skills;
·
A good understanding of government financial and fiscal
policies, strategic planning and vision 2030 flagship projects, procurement and
disposal legal regimes;
·
Excellent understanding of the current trends in university
education and training in Kenya and globally and a broad awareness of the
factors and conditions shaping the development of university education in
Kenya;
·
Candidates who are holders of an MBA or its equivalent will have
an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
·
Direct and organize the administration, planning and financial
management of the university college;
·
Provide proactive human resource management leadership;
·
Co-ordinate the preparation of financial and budget estimates,
quarterly and annual financial reports for presentation to the council;
·
Advice the principal on financial matters of the university;
·
Coordinate the design ,implementation ,maintenance and
development of appropriate human resources policies, procedures and systems to
attract develop and retain qualified experienced human resource;
·
Provide innovative and creative leadership in the areas of
planning and infrastructural development and community linkages;
·
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the principal and
the university college council.
Deputy Principal - Academic Affairs

Qualifications and experience
·
A professor or associate professor with at least ten years

Duties and Responsibilities
·
Coordinate the development of academic policies of the
university college in consultation with the academic board and the senate;
·
Direct and organize academic programmes of the university
college;
·
Coordinate and manage students affairs;
·
Coordinate and manage examinations and the preparation of
academic transcripts, certificates, diplomas and degrees;
·
Advice the principal on academic affairs and student matters of
the university college;
·
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the principal and
the university college council.
A person shall qualify for appointments of above posts if he/she
demonstrates integrity and moral values in accordance with the constitution.
Terms and conditions
The above posts carries an attractive remuneration package which
includes basic salary, house allowance, and medical cover as per the university
college’s medical scheme, leave allowance, official transport and gratuity at
the end of the contract period.
The salary entry point will depend on qualifications and
experience of the successful candidate.
