different parts of the world.

Diakonia Sweden seeks to recruit a Programme
Officer to
provide programme support in respect to two regional programmes – Lake Victoria
Rights Programme and African Economic Justice Programme at the Regional Office
based in Nairobi, Kenya.
We are looking for an individual with excellent communication
skills and proven experience in coordination and support of partner
organizations in various programme issues in a busy multicultural Non
Governmental Organization.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implementation
of programme activity plan
- Provide
overall support to partner organizations including Diakonia on thematic
areas (such as human rights, social economic justice, etc)
- Coordinate
monitoring, evaluation and reporting in the programme.
- Co-ordinate
capacity building support to partner organisations
- Conduct
regular monitoring and coordinate/support evaluations/reviews of partner
organisations
- Assess
proposals, work plans, and reports from partner organisations
- Co-ordinate
and administrate partner consultation meetings for the purpose of
information sharing and learning
- General
administration and ensure adherence to financial procedures of the
programmes
- Liaise
with Finance and Administration Officer on issues relating to financial
management of the programmes.
- Network
with likeminded organisations and stakeholders
Report to the Programme Manager.
3. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
(The knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a
combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or
on-the-job training)
(a) Level of Education/Academic Qualification
- A
bachelor’s degree in development work or humanitarian studies, or other
social sciences.
(b) Specialized Training/Professional Qualifications
- Proven
knowledge of Project Cycle Management.
- Basic
knowledge and skills in Human Rights Based Approach.
(c) Competencies/Abilities/Skills Required
- Should
possess relevant experience in terms of technical support to local NGOs,
monitoring and evaluations and ability to facilitate trainings, workshops,
seminars etc
- Knowledge
of at least two of Diakonia’s thematic areas i.e. democracy human rights,
gender, social and economic justice, conflict and justice, HIV and
AIDS/sexual and reproductive health and rights.
- Experience
in resource mobilization
- Good
interpersonal skills & effective communication both oral & written
English.
- Attention
to details
- Must
demonstrate the ability to plan and work under limited supervision.
- Analysis
& report writing skills with basic financial skills & budgetary
skills.
- Result
based approach
- Preferably
experience of EU-projects
- Preferable
knowledge of Human Rights Based Approach.
- Effective
communication skills and must be fluent in both oral and written English.
(d) Relevant Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience in
development work preferably in an international NGO set up directly related to
program management.
Duration: 2 years contract with possibility of extension depending on funding.
