Primary Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Clinical
Management: Oversee psychosocial mental health interventions for refugee
communities, in the form of individual counseling, group therapy, and
community/large group trainings and activities. Assist in the coordination
of multidisciplinary treatment with counseling and physiotherapy teams.
- Supervision
and Training: Design and carry out training programs for staff
counselors – including ongoing training, mentoring, modeling and
supervision. Continually assess development of counselors and adapt
training to meet their needs.
- Community
Assessment: Mentor counselors in completing needs assessments in
order to identify target populations, program sites, and determine appropriate
mental health interventions for people who have been tortured and/or
traumatized by war.
- Community
Collaboration: Providing training and collaborate with other
organizations in the community to address the needs of torture survivors.
- Reporting:
Write and submit regular reports regarding clinical and training
activities.
- Participate
as member of the program team to achieve program objectives.
- Program
Evaluation: Participate in the implementation of program evaluation.
Qualifications:
- Advanced
degree in Psychology, Counseling or related field. Masters degree or
equivalent required.
- Extensive
experience providing psychotherapy to individuals and groups.
- Understanding
of and experience implementing culturally appropriate mental health
interventions, including individual, group and community-based approaches
for people who have suffered torture and trauma. Experience with
gender-based violence highly desirable.
- Understanding
of and experience developing curriculum and providing training for mental
health counselors using adult experiential learning activities.
- Experience
working in Africa preferred. Experience in East Africa highly
preferred.
- Experience
supervising staff required.
- Experience
supervising mental health counselors preferred.
- Skilled
at carrying out needs assessment and program evaluations.
- Demonstrated
flexibility to adapt to changing program requirements, client needs and
political climate.

- Supervision
and Training: Oversee the quality of physiotherapy activities and
provide supervision to physiotherapy team. Design and carryout
training programs for local physiotherapists – including ongoing training,
mentoring, modeling, observing and conducting supervision sessions.
Facilitate case consultations and review of documentation.
Continually assess development of staff and adapt training to meet their
needs.
- Clinical
Management: Assist in day-to-day operations of the program to ensure goals
are met. Coordinate physiotherapy team, and strengthen collaboration
with the counseling team.
- Clinical
Assessment: Oversee and train physiotherapists on assessments of clients
and determination of appropriate interventions. Review and develop
technical tools for client assessments.
- Community
Assessment: Design and carryout assessments in the community to determine
physiotherapy interventions that are appropriate for torture survivors.
- Community
Collaboration: Provide training and coordination with other
organizations so they can better address the needs of torture survivors.
- Reporting:
Prepare and submit regular reports documenting clinical and training
activities and progress achieved toward program goals.
- Program
Evaluation: Participate in the design, implementation and monitoring
of program evaluation systems.
Qualifications:
- B.S.
degree from an accredited/approved school for physiotherapy. Masters
degree or equivalent preferred.
- Fluency
in English. Fluency in relevant East African languages such as
Swahili, Somali and French preferred.
- Cultural
sensitivity awareness in working with diverse staff and clients.
- 5
years experience as a physiotherapist with a strong orthopedic background.
- Understanding
of and experience implementing culturally appropriate physiotherapy
interventions for people who have suffered trauma. Experience with
torture survivors preferred.
- Understanding
of and experience developing curriculum and providing training for
physiotherapy professionals using experiential learning approaches.
- International
experience desirable. Experience working in East Africa preferred.
- Experience
supervising physiotherapists.
- Skilled
at carrying out needs assessment and program evaluations.
- Excellent

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Logistics/Security
Coordination: Provide overall coordination of logistics operations,
including security, vehicles, material resources, communication, and
infrastructure support for all sites within the country. Coordinate
comprehensive security management systems and procedures for Dadaab field
sites. Ensure resources are effectively allocated to meet project
needs. Manage systems for supplies procurement, capital purchasing
and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Administration/Finances:
Assist in development of operational plans and budgets. Monitor
finances to ensure resources are properly managed. Maintain records
of all assets and financial transactions. Develop regular reports
for country records, funders and headquarters that accurately document
project activities. Coordinate data collection processes to track
program activities and outcomes. Position may involve direct
supervision of administrative and finance staff.
- Communications:
Represent the organization with NGOs, donors, government, host community,
and refugee leadership. Strengthen communication across all
operation sites. Report writing.
- Project
Coordination: Provide coordination of specific projects or
leadership activities under the direction of the Country Director.
Serve as Acting Country Director in his/her absence.
Qualifications:
- BA
degree required in international development, management, or related
field. Minimum 5 years experience in relevant coordination or
management capacity in an international NGOs.
- Demonstrated
experience in developing and implementing security measures in a high risk
environment.
- Demonstrated
ability to develop and maintain logistics and procurement systems.
- Strong
oral and written communications skills; strong computer skills.
Experience with statistical software desirable.
- Experience
maintaining financial systems and managing reporting, as required by
funders.
- Familiarity
with private, US government, UN and multi-lateral funders.
- Excellent
cross-cultural skills.
- Experience
developing and managing a team of staff members.
- Excellent
organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability
to work in an isolated, rapidly evolving humanitarian emergency setting,
lacking in amenities. Experience working in a refugee camp setting
highly desirable.
- Knowledge
of psychology and psychosocial concepts.
- Fluency
in English. Skills in Somali and / or Swahili highly desirable.
- Experience
living and working in Africa desired.
