Position Summary
Adeso is seeking to fill the following position for an
anticipated UKAID (UKAID) funded project.
The Girls' Education Challenge (GEC) will help up to a million
of the world’s poorest girls to have an opportunity to improve their lives
through education.
The initiative calls on NGOs, charities and the private sector
to find better ways of getting girls in school and ensuring they receive a
quality of education to transform their future.
Position Purpose
The Finance Manager will be a full-time member of the GEC Program Team, working with the relevant units in the program headquarters, Adeso teams, and field staff.
The main responsibilities will be the planning and coordination
of the Finance Department’s activities by ensuring that the department has
adequate resources to effectively undertake its activities.
The Finance Manager will be part of the senior management team
of the GEC Program and will ensure compliance with all Adeso and donor
financial policies and guidelines at all levels.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Plan and
coordinate the activities of the Finance program department by ensuring
that the unit has adequate resources to effectively undertake its
activities;
- Lead and
supervise all staff in the finance function in carrying out their daily
tasks in an effective and efficient manner per Adeso policies, procedures
and donor requirements;
- Coordinate the
preparation and monitoring of budgets for all projects/programs per UKAID
formats, on monthly, quarterly and annual basis;
- Ensure provision
of timely and sound financial reports to the Program Director, donor and
other stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis; and
- Responsible for
all financial issues and correspondence on financial matters with
partners, donors and Government agencies.
Business planning and Donor management
- Prepare annual
operations plan for the GEC Program;
- Review, revise,
update financial operations policies and procedures as required;
- Manage the
overall GEC program cash flow; and
- Manage the
program’s auditing process under the direction of the Program Director and
Adeso Operations Director.
Compliance/Implementation of Policies & Procedures
- Ensure regular
financial monitoring in the program field offices are undertaken and any
findings and recommendations are implemented in good time;
- Ensure the
organization is in compliance with statutory laws and legislations in all
areas of operation;
- Ensure full
compliance with internal policies, donor regulations and budget
restrictions on all projects; and
- Oversee the
performance management of all finance staff, including conducting annual
performance review of Finance Managers.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Professional
qualifications in accounting or CPA (K), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent;
- A minimum of 6
years experience working in a similar position;
- Experience in
managing multiple programs and operations remotely;
- Experience in
institutionalizing financial policies and procedures and internal control
systems;
- Strong attention
to detail and a high level of organization; and
- Previous
experience in similar position will be an added advantage.
