and Planning Department within the Technology Division.

person who meets the criteria indicated below:
Principal Converged Packet Transport Strategy Engineer

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Network Strategy and Architecture - Core, the position holder will primarily be responsible for shaping and driving the Converged Transport Strategy and Architecture aiming at addressing the challenges of building a cost-efficient and survivable packet-optimized transport layer on next generation packet platforms.
The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
Transport Strategy
- Defining
both long term and short term converged packet transport strategy based on
technology progress on optics and packet based networks, industry
experience and economic incentives;
- Performing
technology evolution study, evaluating business case for new transport
products and features, study best practices shared by VTN transport
network strategy team and form inputs for transport network strategy;
- Aligning
transport network strategy with those of the business units, assisting in
business case analysis, conducting technology presentations, assisting on
transport network monetization;
- Based
on validated transport network strategy, submit concept papers, policy
documents, budget estimates, to the specific technology delivery teams
- Participate
in the technology governance process as the key contributor for transport
networks
Transport Architecture
- Develop
transport network target architectures (core and backbone) based on
technology evolution, vendor road maps and business requirements;
- Carry
out technology evolution study on circuit to packet migration and IP
mapping out clearly the architecture transitions
- Analyze
end2end proposed architectures to prepare design input for transport
domain areas (National and International IP/MPLS, transmission, subsea
cables) target architecture;
- Align
transport network architecture with other technology domain areas (Access,
RAN Backhaul) architectures;
- Based
on validated transport network architecture create high level design
guidelines and related dependencies;
Licensing and Costing:
- Preparation
of strategy on costing/licensing models, based on traffic trend
analysis, equipment units costs and capacity plans
- Analysis
of features (service, capacity and quality related) and their costs end to
end and assist in conducting business case
- Assist
in CAPEX reduction initiatives by providing optimized transport
network architectures, well dimensioned hardware and recommended features;
Project Management:
- Organize
meetings with technology delivery teams as a follow up on core transport
strategy implementation
- Organize
quarterly strategy control meetings with delivery teams, business units
and supply chain
Business Continuity Planning:
- Assist
in defining business requirements for Business Continuity Planning in the
transport domain area
- Assist
in translation of BCP objectives for transport into technical
requirements, implementation design and budget estimates
- Assist
in Scheduling, Monitoring and providing feedback as to completeness of BCP
test plans
Supplier Strategy:
- Build
and maintain business relationships with transport network vendors and
suppliers
- Study
and evaluate transport product road maps, services, features,
costing and licensing by engaging vendors and suppliers through meetings
and technology conferences
- Assist
in forming network vendor/supplier strategy
Reporting:
- Prepare
Monthly and Quarterly status report of strategy performance KPIs.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills &
competencies:
- Bachelor’s
degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Computer Science;
- 6+
years of direct Network Engineering/Network Operations experience in a
mobile/fixed transport services network;
- Good
working knowledge of IP and Transmission (optical) systems;
- Good
understanding of Transmission and IP network design principles and design
best practices;
- Strong
analytical, problem solving and organizational skills;
- Ability
to work under pressure with mature and target oriented approach;
- Excellent
documentation, communications and presentation skills with sound
experience in MS office (Excel, Word, Power point, Project, Visio) and
other visual drawing tools;
- CCNP/CCIP
qualification is desirable.
