A well established construction company with Projects in various
parts of the country wishes to recruit a qualified engineer for the position of
Technical Manager /Engineer.
The successful candidate, based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Project Sites, will work in liaison with the GM Technical as a technical advisor with respect to the Site projects to ensure proper implementation of project related activities and programmes.
Responsibilities:The successful candidate, based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Project Sites, will work in liaison with the GM Technical as a technical advisor with respect to the Site projects to ensure proper implementation of project related activities and programmes.
In liaison with GM Technical:
- Develop
project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring
with management;
- Determine
project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements,
and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost
estimates etc;
- Determine
project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements;
assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from
contractors etc;
- Confirm
product performance by designing and conducting tests;
- Determine
project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating
time requirements; sequencing project elements etc;
- Maintain
project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities;
resolving problems;
- Control
project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule
changes; recommending actions.
- Control
project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor
contracts.
- Prepare
regular project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing
information and trends; recommending actions.
- Maintain
safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and
regulations.
- Maintain
product and company reputation by complying with laid down agreements
within the set deadlines
- Contribute
to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Sit
in for the GM Technical in his absence
- Any
other duties as may be assigned
Requirements
- B.Sc.
Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental or
equivalent) and Masters Degree in Business or equivalent.
- Registered
as a full professional Engineer with relevant technical professional body.
- At
least ten years relevant experience with at least 5 years served in a
senior position
- Computer
skills – MS Office, AutoCAD etc.
