ACTED Kenya/Somalia is looking for self driven and self oriented professionals to fill the following posts:
 

1. Program Assistant
Based in Nairobi with travel to Somalia, and reporting to the Area Coordinator, the Project Assistant will
 
bear the following main responsibilities:
 
    * Provide technical assistance to Somalia program in developing strategic and implementation plans in design process.
    * Assist in the coordination and structure of monitoring and evaluation activities with the AMEU staff.
    * Develop/consolidate key indicators and subsequently incorporate them in all agreements and amendments under the projects.
    * Working with the AMEU team and/or partner staff to establish and coordinate quality assurance systems in projects
    * Ensure appropriate data collection by implementation team/partners in fulfilment of appraisal, and monitoring and evaluation plans.
    * Periodic monitoring of the existing database management system, assist in periodic review of program performance and provide supportive visits to partners to monitor implementation.
    * Facilitate the development of the country reports, and any other relevant project materials.
    * In consultation with the relevant staff respond to project information requests from the stakeholders
    * Additional Administrative Duties may be required.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
    * Bachelors’ degree in Development Studies, Sociology or a related field
    * Excellent knowledge of computer-MS office.
    * Must be fluent in both Somali and English with good communications skills(both oral and written)
    * Complex understanding of the current environment in Somalia (including Somaliland, Puntland and South Somalia)
    * At least three years of experience working in program management, relief programming, and program development and reporting.
    * Demonstrable experience in writing donor reports
    * Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, implementing partners, government staff, etc.
    * Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    * Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through informal and formal trainings
    * Experience working in projects with implementation partners a plus.
    * Must be results/impact oriented.

2. Project Development Officer
Based in Somalia and reporting to the Area Coordinator, the Project Development Officer will bear the following main responsibilities:
 
    * Ensuring the Production of Timely, Accurate and Analytical Reports for Donors
    * Liaise regularly and work closely with Area Coordinator, Programme Manager,AMEU and technical staff to ensure the production of quality reports across areas and across Donors;
    * Work in close relation and communicate on a regular basis with Capital Office reporting department, notably on the a weekly basis; using the reporting templates provided
    * Developing Internal Coordination and Communication mechanisms by ensuring that reporting guidelines, formats, philosophy, deadlines for each project and donor is communicated clearly and standardized across the country and on ongoing projects.
    * Developing an External Donor Relations and External Communication Strategies.
    * Assisting the Project Development Manager and Country Director in developing the country strategy, project proposals, addressing ad hoc donor requests or catalysing action on specific projects or components of projects

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

    * Experience working in projects with implementation partners a plus.
    * High integrity, good stewardship of resources and ability to promote learning.

3. Monitoring & Evaluation/Reporting Officer (national position), based in Nairobi, Kenya
 This position will report directly to the Appraisal, Monitoring & Evaluation Unit (AMEU) Manager of ACTED Kenya-Somalia. The position is based in Nairobi and requires travel to ACTED project sites in Northern Kenya and potentially Somalia.

 Desired Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
 
    * Prepare monitoring and evaluation plans to measure project progress and impact indicators;
    * Prepare and review monitoring and evaluation methodologies for needs assessments, monitoring and evaluation activities;
    * Prepare and review qualitative and quantitative data collection tools to ensure they are in line with project objectives and indicators;
    * Improve AMEU processes and procedures including data collection skills, data quality, analysis and report writing;
    * Plan and conduct field data collection, particularly for needs assessments, monitoring and evaluation;
    * Provide monitoring and evaluation technical support and backstopping for AMEU Somalia and Kenya field teams;
    * Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis and write timely and appropriate reports to assist programme management and development.

Requested Profile
    * University degree or Masters in Sociology, Community Development, WASH, Rural Livelihoods or related field;
    * Extensive experience of social research methods to conduct monitoring and evaluation for humanitarian and development purposes. Knowledge and experience of participatory rural appraisal methods an asset;
    * Excellent written skills in the English language;
    * Excellent analytical skills in order to interpret qualitative and quantitative data and discern useful recommendations for programme implementation and development;
    * Statistical analysis and IT skills, including use of SPSS and Excel for data analysis;
    * At least 3 years of work experience in a similar field; former experience with humanitarian organizations is an asset;
    * Previous experience with community development, food security, WASH and economic/agricultural programming is an assets in pastoralist and agro-pastoral settings is an asset;
    * Ability to work with respect with men and women from different backgrounds and in a multi-cultural team;
    * Ability to speak at least one local languages in ACTEDs areas of implementation, including Kiswahili, Samburu, Pokot and Somali languages;
    * Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively in all ACTED areas of intervention.
