To support our rapidly expanding business, we are looking for a General Manager for our Kenyan operations.Reporting to the Regional Director and working in a highly dynamic environment that is faced with everchanging regulatory complexities, and for a multi-cultural and diverse customer base, you will be expected to deliver on agreed business growth and operating profit objectives. Your key deliverables will include subscriber growth and retention, sales and distribution management, customer management, the management of multiple stakeholders, the achievement of financial operational targets and the effective
management of your staff. You will also be the focal point for Regulatory issues in the country including new legislations and technological developments impacting on the sector. In particular, you will be expected to:
Formulate the business strategy including the identification of business opportunities that align with the overall company strategy
Manage the implementation of the business process: this will entail monitoring financial and
performance targets, overseeing the annual budget and forecast exercises, working capital and cash flow management
Build and maintain effective relationships with/among shareholders, Business Partners, Broadcasters,
key programme suppliers, bankers, 3rd Party service providers such as, auditors, and our head office.
Develop a culture of customer centrality, manage subscriber management services and develop retention strategies.
Manage and develop staff
Manage the corporate image & reputation as well as our corporate social investment (CSI) programmes
Oversee the development of systems and processes including financial and other policies and procedures and internal controls
Prepare General management reports and board papers as required
Ensure compliance with the regulatory, statutory and tax obligations of the country
REQUIREMENTS
In addition to being a university graduate preferably at post graduate level, you will be a seasoned senior
manager with experience at General Management/CEO level and solid Board interactions in a commercial
environment. You will be a proven strategic leader with demonstrable business growth experience, strong
analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. We will also be looking for:
Sound knowledge of : the pay television sector , the market and its customer demands; knowledge of the
internet industry; understanding of the communication legal environment
Financial management experience including tax knowledge and experience of overseeing financial and other reporting
People management experience in particular, staff development, performance management, discipline and team management
Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
Public relations, corporate communications, sales & marketing and customer management experience
Distributor management including identification and appointment, contracted negotiation and execution
Computer software knowledge (finance - spreadsheet, word processing packages)
