Our client, an
Association, in the tourism sector/ industry is looking to fill the position of
a Business Development Manager. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the
Business Development Manager will be the principal assistant / deputy to the
CEO and will be accountable for the developing and executing strategies to grow
the product offering and revenue of the Association.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop new
business relationships, generate and negotiate new income streams for the
Association in
keeping with the Strategic plan.
Develop products and services with external partners that the membership and
potential members desire, such as risk management and financial based products.
Work with national associations in other countries to create business-to-business
linkages that will create business opportunities for members.keeping with the Strategic plan.
Present the Association and its products and services to potential members through direct communication in face to face meetings; over the telephone; in emails and at events and tradeshows.
Keep abreast of issues affecting the travel industry and ensue that the Association remains proactive and responsive to the issues and to the changing needs of members and prospective members.
Minimum Requirements:
The incumbent must possess the following minimum qualifications
and competencies:
A relevant first degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in sales & marketing / business development profession with a proven record of success in the B2B selling environment
with experience of selling to companies at director level in the upper and middle income market and exceeding set targets.
Tenacious, honest, driven and highly motivated individual, capable of working independently, demonstrating integrity with the ability to use own initiative, resourcefulness and is results oriented.
A positive and determined approach to researching and analyzing new business opportunities – products or services; paying close attention to detail; confident negotiator with all parties; and the ability to ‘close the deal’ and sell the products to members.
Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation. Confidence in presenting / speaking at industry events and workshops.
Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to cope with competing demands and prioritize tasks
IT literate, with a keen working appreciation of e-commerce and social media platforms. Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions.
A sound understanding of the travel industry/sector would be a distinct advantage
Remuneration: The starting salary for this position is KShs 80,000 gross per month. The salary offered will be dependent on incumbents experience and demonstrable contribution.
