This
position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the firm. This
is a senior position within the organization that will offer information and
support to the three service lines for effective decision making.
Largely, the purpose of the job is to:
To
analyze financial statements and structure funding requirements of clients for
presentation to financiers (banks, private equity, angel investors, etc)
Contribute to the development of infrastructure, policy and processes related to the firm’s risk management framework.
Continually carry out research on topical issues affecting businesses and use the website and newsletter to offer on-going support and advise to customers.
Provide support in proposal development for participation in tenders related to the core business of the firm

Principal accountabilities for this position are
as follows:
Credit Risk Analysis.
Routinely
analyze financial statements of clients and contribute in developing business
plans and proposals to support requests for funding. This role requires
excellent understanding of project finance, trade finance, and normal
commercial lending. Your role will include monitoring the market to identify
products being offered by various financers in the market.
Firm-wide Risk Management and Control systems
Contribute
to the development of infrastructure, policy and processes related to the
firm’s risk management framework to ensure effective and efficient achievement
of the corporate objectives of the firm. Where necessary, the role will also
include working with external consultants (or associates) to deliver on
assignments where internal capacity is stretched.
Product Development
Based
on research and market feedback, you will contribute to the development of new
products and corresponding proposals to the Senior Management of the firm for
approval, including the formulation of relevant polices.
Compliance Function
The
role will be the primary compliance function (working jointly with internal
audit) to ensure that proposals, business plans and other information from the
firm complies with internal policies and procedures while also complying with requirements
of the relevant counterparties and good business practice. This includes
ensuring that appropriate legal and financial documentation for all proposals
are in place.
Counterparty Relations
You
will promote the firm to external counterparties through participating in
various workshops and fora where you will make presentations about the firm. In
this regard, you will also maintain contact with research houses and rating
agencies; conferences and seminars organizers; Banks and private equity funds;
and other players in the market.
Market Research
You
will carry out sustained research on general financial and risk management
topics and trends. You will further monitor developments in the market
including economic trends, political developments, technological changes, etc
and feed this information back to the Senior Management of the firm for
effective strategy and decision making.
Documentation and archives
You
will contribute to the maintenance of the Risk Control archive of counterparty
information, policy decisions and legal documentation.
Special projects
Participates
in various projects as and when required.
External relationships
Develops and maintains relationships with peers at commercial institutions, central bank, and other counterparties.
The successful candidate must possess the following minimum criteria and personal qualities:
University degree in a relevant field, ideally complemented by a professional certification in risk management, accounting (CPA/ACCA) or financial analysis (CFA).
A high degree of analytical skills with excellent and wide-ranging finance and IT skills.
Strong numerical and credit analysis skills, particularly financial statement analysis and commentary. Good research skills are a bonus.
Experience in extracting and manipulating data for quantitative analysis and reporting purposes. This would require excellent IT competence and particularly advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite.
Good organizational skills and problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills.
Ability to present and explain technical and complex issues clearly (including excellent report writing ability).
Ability to work independently and to cope with pressure and responsibility.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; good team worker; multicultural sensitivity.
At least two years' relevant work experience.
