JOB CONTEXT
The rehabilitation project in Dadaab aims to provide and secure tangible and measurable improvement of in-dependency in activities of daily living and quality of life of refugees living with physical impairment or disability.
THE POSITION
Under the line management of the Administration Coordinator and in link with Administration team in Dadaab, the Accountant is in charge of implementing and following up all accounting procedures, checking all accounting supporting document, make all entries in the accounting software, close the accountancy every month, follow up on treasury.
According to the position, the Accountant must keep all the data confidential, and share it only with the accurate persons. Should the employee not comply with these rules, he will be charged for serious professional misconduct.

GLOBAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
Under the responsibility of the Administration Coordinator, the accounts officer ensures that the accounts of HI Kenya are properly maintained and according to the standard accounting principles and practices in Head Quarters

TASKS DESCRIPTION
1.Cash flow Management (Bank and Cash):
•Responsible towards the Administration Coordinator of the cash management, although an accountant assistant is in charge of the daily work.
•Responsible to train and supervise the accountant assistant on his/ her daily work and to make sure that deadlines are duly respected.
2.Accounting:
•Compile all invoices coming from the field, check them, enter them in the AlphaK software
•Responsible to check that vouchers are properly filed by the cashier(s) / accountant assistant - GAP code, designation, budget lines, donors’ lines.
•Responsible to computerize on daily basis cash and bank expenditures in the software (AlphaK).
•Responsible to check on weekly basis GAP code and budget lines with Administration Coordinator.
•Under the supervision of the Administration Coordinator, making the corrections in AlphaK according to HQ feedback.
•Responsible to carry out cash reconciliation

•Responsible to allocate expenditures on donors’ budgets for staff, allowances, using the Allocation Management Board and the Budget Follow up.

REQUIRED PROFILE
Education
• MBA in accountancy
• Other accountancy related diploma
Languages
• English
• Swahili / Somali would be an asset
Experience
• At least 3 years as an accountant
• NGO experience an asset
Personal qualities
• High attention to details
• Thorough
• Conscientious
• Reliable
• Quick learner
Skills
• Very good practice of Excel and Word
• Ability to work within a team
• Ability to work under short deadlines
• Adaptable and flexible
