CALL FOR APPLICATIONS-2nd QUARTER ALLOCATION.
Applications for the second round of E.E.P scholarships are hereby invited. The scholarship fund is a strategic rollout of the Elimika Empowerment Platform, under funding from the Norwegian donor community, in line with The Kenya vision 2030 and the Millennium Development goals.
In this regard therefore, applications for scholarships for the second quarter (2011/2012 academic year) are invited for High school, undergraduate and graduate studies.
Eligibility
The scholarship fund is open to Kenyan nationals aged 15-35 years old, and shall cater for secondary school studies alongside tertiary education.


Applicants should have sat their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations not earlier than 2007, for those who are not yet admitted into an institution of higher learning. Continuing students should be enrolled into accredited Kenyan High schools, universities, colleges, polytechnics and institutes for a full time K.C.S.E, diploma, degree and certificate courses. Few scholarship opportunities are available for overseas studies.

Applicants wishing to undertake degree courses should have scored a minimum C+ aggregate grade, whereas those wishing to undertake diploma courses should have attained a C plain mean grade. Applicants wishing to undertake certificate courses shall be expected to have attained a minimum D+ aggregate grade. Continuing students should attach admission letters in addition to certified copies of the course fee structure and the report forms for High school students. Accordingly, undergraduate applicants wishing to study abroad should have attained a minimum B+ mean grade in their K.C.S.E examinations while graduate applicants should have obtained a 1st class honors in their undergraduate studies in order to be considered for the limited overseas studies funding.

For post-graduate applicants, a letter of admission into an accredited university for post-graduate studies should be attached to the application letter. Strong evidence of intent to undertake the same is required in the absence of an admission letter. Such applicants should not be over 35 years of age at the time of the application and must have attained a minimum of 2nd class honors, upper division, in their Bachelor’s degree course and must have graduated from 2008-2010.

Applications should be accompanied by a non-refundable processing fee of Ksh. 400, payable to the Elimika Empowerment Platform bank account: ELIMIKA EMPOWERMENT PLATFORM, A/C No: 1090197298742, EQUITY BANK, ELDORET MARKET BRANCH. A bank deposit slip should be attached to the application package. Kindly note that an application made without the processing fee shall not be given any consideration whatsoever.

APPLICATION PROCESS.
Applications shall be made in writing to the secretariat of the Elimika Empowerment Platform with “Scholarship Application” as the reference line.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST.
A fully constituted application package shall consist of the following:

An application letter, detailing why you merit the scholarship.
An essay written from among the topics hereunder:

What are the challenges likely to be encountered in the implementation of the newly promulgated Kenyan constitution?
How I shall assist my community with the education I would have undergone if granted this scholarship?

Kindly note that topic (a) exclusively applies to applicants wishing to undertake postgraduate studies while topic (b) essay applies to both continuing and prospective undergraduates.
A copy of the result slip for `O’ level examinations. Graduate applicants should provide copies of their undergraduate transcripts.
A bank deposit slip of Ksh. 400 payable into the Kenya Youth Empowerment Platform’s bank account no:  
An admission letter of an accredited university, college or institute, accompanied by a certified copy of the course fee structure.
The most recent passport-size photograph of the applicant.
Applicant’s account number clearly indicated in the application letter. (Note that funds shall be directly deposited into the successful applicants’ bank accounts).
Daytime contacts of the applicant.
Kindly note that the scholarship fund shall cater for tuition expenses alongside stationery and medical expenses. A monthly upkeep stipend shall also be offered to all successful applicants.
