Responsibilities: Within delegated authority the Financial Controller will be responsible for the following duties:· To direct the development and implementation of new accounting systems suitable to ON-LINE RETREADS LTD objectives and needs.
· To be responsible for the preparation of the annual organizational financial budget ensuring provision of sufficient resources and assets to attain Group & Organizational objectives.
· To supervise the preparation of monthly financial reports including expenditures, variances against budget, balance sheet etc
· To supervise the General Ledger accounting work to ensure that all revenues and costs are correctly allocated and monitored. This will include the preparation of regular reconciliations of accounts and its subsequent reporting.
· To undertake reviews of departmental operational objectives and all related financial policies affecting the Group & Organization’s accounting and financial systems.
· To clearly identify strategic issues, opportunities and risks linked to both ON-LINE RETREADS LTD overall objectives and that of the accounting function.
· To ensure staff compliance with the approved financial policies and procedures as well as being up to date of any new accounting and reporting standards.
· To ensure audit compliance and full sign off from external auditors.
· To organize the Finance department by the successful recruitment and implementation of finance and accounting staff with the assistance of HR.
· To develop a sound internal control environment to ensure that the assets of the company are secured, that there is adequate control over inventory movement and usage, and that the integrity of the financial reporting system is maintained.
· To develop benchmarks against which performance can be monitored. This includes building systems and procedures for monitoring of actual performance against budgets and benchmarks including variance analysis of actual performance against these benchmarks and the budgets.
· To facilitate, in consultation with the CFO, the development of the business plan and to co-ordinate the preparation of the company's annual and rolling budgets, including capital, income and expenditure, working capital and human resource budgets, and to assist the heads of departments in the preparation of their departmental plans and budgets.
· Minimize the working capital investment by the efficient management of cash, inventories, receivable and payables.
· To develop an effective management information system including report formats which provide accurate and timely information and which assist the management in controlling the operations, decision making and maximizing efficiency.
· To manage accounts receivable, credit extension and collection activities including setting proper guidelines and credit control procedures and to monitor and enforce the agreed collection process.
· To supervise and coordinate the preparation, on a timely basis, of the company's management and the audited financial statements and reports and to ensure their accuracy and timeliness in accordance with the laid down accounting policies and legal requirements. To liaise with the company auditors, company secretaries and tax consultants on all matters affecting the company and to ensure compliance with all statutory matters and deadlines.
· To ensure the follow up of all internal and external audit reports and to develop a timetable for the implementation of weaknesses identified.
· To supervise the preparation and disbursement of the payroll and to ensure that all applicable statutory deductions are made and remitted to relevant authorities on a timely basis.
· To recruit suitably qualified staff and maintain their job descriptions and carry out half-yearly performance review of all the department staff against agreed objectives.
· To coordinate staff management and development matters including performance appraisals and identification of training needs in the department and to liaise with the human resource manager for inclusion of those training needs into the annual company training programme.
· To emphasize professional qualifications and continuing professional education in line with career development amongst all staff in the department.
· To manage the staff in the department in a way that ensures a high degree of motivation, efficiency and discipline in all activities.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- · Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- · ACCA or equivalent certification
- · Minimum 15 years work experience in senior finance and accounting management positions in a manufacturing industry with multiple units or branches.
- · Excellent Information Technology skills, with experience in implementation of computerized financial and accounting systems.
- · Have a keen business sense
- · Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- · Excellent interpersonal skills
- · Be innovative, dynamic, enthusiastic and able to work with minimum supervision.
- · Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- · Able to travel frequently within the region.
