Summary:
The Employer is a Group whose purpose is to manage a portfolio of FMCG companies operating in East African region initially, and looking to expand into other areas of Africa. The Group currently includes an FMCG leader in Tanzania and Rwanda specialising in personal care.
Reporting to the Group CEO, the candidate will be responsible for the centralised branding, marketing &communications, product development, market research for the Group companies.
The CCO will operate at the group level and provide strategic leadership and support to relevant functional heads of Group companies in the areas of Sales, Marketing and Distribution.
Description:
· Define the Group’s overall commercial strategy, with a strong focus on brand management, category selection, product innovation and advertising strategy.
· SKU contribution and rationalization analysis, product pricing and costing models, and management of marketing, selling and distribution costs.
· Define the appropriate marketing and sales organisation for each Group.
* Support the annual budgeting process, collecting and relaying relevant information from group companies and setting sales targets for brands, product lines and regions.
· Play an active role in evaluating and integrating new businesses into the group, focusing on brand portfolio rationalization, distribution optimization and market research on new markets.
* Oversee market research.
* Ensure that Group Companies are adhering to the Group‘s strategy.

Requirements:
· 10+ years experience in a brand focused FMCG company marketing/sales, ideally as CMO of a similar or larger sized business operating in more than one country and in a group structure.
· Experience leading companies towards more brand focused strategies.
· A track record of innovation.
· Emerging market FMCG experience in a multi country organization required, East Africa ideal.
· Experience of managing a diverse product portfolio in personal care.
· Has experience in a range of group functions, including sales, marketing and brand management
