Carolina for Kibera (CFK) is a non-profit organization based in the Kibera community of Nairobi. CFK empowers, educates, and supports the people of Kibera in their vision to better their community. As a community-driven partnership CFK cultivates future leaders and strengthens communities through our collaborative network of programs advancing health, ethnic cooperation, gender equality and economic empowerment. CFK currently runs four core programs and two initiatives. The Binti Pamoja Center is one of the core programs of CFK.
The Binti Pamoja Center is an internationally recognized adolescent girls empowerment program targeting girls in Kibera between the ages of 10-22 and focuses on providing them with safe spaces and mentors in which they are able to learn about reproductive health, adolescence, and financial education, as well as develop friendships and skills in communication, negotiation, and leadership. The program runs two components, the Core Program Component and the Safe Spaces Program Component. The Core program, recruits on average 25-30 girls per year and the girls meet twice a week over a two-year period.
As part of growth and expansion of the Binti Pamoja Program and in line with the vision of the CFK Strategic Plan 2011 – 2015, CFK seeks to recruit two young and dynamic Kenyans as Program Officers for the Binti Pamoja Core and Safe Spaces Program Components. Reporting to the Head of Social Services, the positions will entail providing technical direction to the development and implementation of all activities of the respective program component while collaborating with each other in the implementation of the wider Binti Pamoja program strategy.
Period: 1 Year renewable based on performance.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Focusing on either the core program component or the safe spaces program component:
* Prepare periodic work-plans, program tools, budgets and proposals as required for program implementation or resource mobilization.
* Ensure the implementation of all approved project activities in line with the program strategy and act as a catalyst for new program ideas in line with the wider organizational vision.
* Prepare status reports required for donors, budget review, program analysis, annual reports, etc.
* Conduct constant monitoring as well as periodic reviews of the program component and undertake action aimed at the progressive improvement of program performance.
* Develop mechanisms that guarantee program linkage with the wider network of actors and manage network activities around girl empowerment.
* Work collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams with the organization’s colleagues on special assignments that serve to enhance the organization’s effectiveness.
* Act as the primary contact of CFK with community and implementing partners under the Program Component and represent the organization at designated meetings and community events.
* Any other duties that you may be assigned from time to time.

Desired Qualifications and Experience
The desired candidate should posses the following:
* A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, development studies or related discipline or a Diploma in the above areas with at least 2 years of progressive work experience with adolescent girls in resource constrained settings.
* A thorough understanding of the issues surrounding adolescent health, education and economic empowerment with regard to girls and young women.
* Significant experience in designing and managing grant programs aimed at improving the health, economic and educational status of the un-served and underserved.
* Reasonable understanding and/or experience in program development, evaluation and assessment.
* Experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary and culturally diverse team. The ability to work in a complex environment requiring significant collaboration is essential.
* Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to think and act strategically in the design and execution of programs is highly valued.
* Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
* Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communication with a good ability to communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences.
* Self-starter with a diligent and professional work ethic able to independently handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Knowledge and familiarity with the Kibera community and environment will be an added advantage.
