Our client, a local Non-Governmental Organization working towards promoting and upholding women and girls in society seeks to fill the position of a Legal Officer. The position is initially on a 9 month contract with possibility of extension.

Duties:-
o Provide legal representation to clients who are women and girls survivors of Gender based violence
o Prepare pleadings, proofs of evidence and legal briefs
o Intervene and petition on behalf of the public in gender related issues.
o Take up public interest litigation cases for advocacy
o Develop and maintain partnerships with other NGO’s, Government departments and relevant bodies in gender related cases
o Undertaking legal research

Minimum qualifications
o Advocate of the High court of Kenya
o Advocate of the High court of Kenya
o Should have knowledge of program planning, designing, monitoring and evaluation
o Must possess strong writing skills, proficiency in computers, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
o Should be able to work under pressure
o Demonstrate knowledge in gender and women’s rights issues.
o results oriented, creative and innovative
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills
o 1 to 2 years experience in a similar role.
