Designer, Workshop Manager, Marketers Jobs.

Our client is known in the highest social circles as the luxury brand of choice. Since 1950, they have
served the crème de la crème and gained renown as the premier manufacturer of exquisite,
handcrafted furniture. Their client roster is the envy of the competition: Presidential Residences,
Embassies, Central Banks, Hotels, Ministerial Offices and Private Luxury Homes in East and South
African region.
To keep their ever-growing client list satisfied, they have decided to strengthen out
managerial and technical team by bringing five senior managers on board. Success in these roles
calls for passion, excitement and high levels of energy.
DESIGNER
This position sits at the nerve centre of the organizations’ business. Its task is to conceptualise
and/or capture the trends of furniture design and translate these into practical yet stylish furniture

designs that appeal to high-end customer tastes. In some instances, the Designer must take on
board and interpret client ideas and turn these into masterpieces that exceed client expectations.
It is the Designer who keeps the organizations’ brand appealing to the selected customer base.
Expertise at applying the latest technology in design is essential, to ensure speed and efficiency
and maximise workshop productivity. It helps to ensure that craftsmen can faultlessly interpret and
reproduce the Designer’s concepts with minimum rework or wastage. Degrees in Engineering,
design or comparable subjects and expertise in computer-aided, a passion for design plus three to
five years experience in furniture design are the ideal person specifications.
INTERIOR DESIGNER
Colour and fabric selection is at the core of high quality furniture making; hence the Interior
Designer is responsible for ensuring a perfect match between the interiors to be furnished and the
selected fabrics, including their colours. The interior designer ensures that the fabric works well
with the furniture piece itself and enhances its allure.
Solid experience of interior design acquired either from a design house, hotel, or quality furniture
make is essential for this role. A degree or postgraduate diploma in design and a track record of
success in comparable roles is essential.
WORKSHOP MANAGER
A business staffed by 100+ employees, making specialty products calls for skillful management. This
is more so, in instances where employees have developed their skills on the job and supervisors
have risen through the ranks due to their exemplary craftsmanship, rather than specialized
training. The Workshop Manager therefore needs to be a thinker and a problem solver; a person
who can link effectively with the design team, prepare and implement meaningful work schedules,
ensure effective maintenance of equipment and manage productivity and work quality.
Degree level training in wood technology or production engineering with hands on experience of
working with the latest furniture making equipment is required. The selected candidate must also
have the potential to grow into higher management levels in the organization, possible to the role
of CEO. 5+ years working experience is required.
MARKETER
The organization gets the bulk of its business from personal referrals and general word of mouth.
That the company has done so well under these circumstances is clear evidence that it is not
actualising its potential. Hence, the intent, going forward is to aggressively market the company’s
products through maintaining a fully updated website, participation in exhibitions, interactions
with architects and engineers and regular visits to current and potential customers across the
region.
Experience of marketing speciality products will be key to success, as will excellent communication
and interpersonal skills. A business degree, together with a marketing diploma and three to five
