Deputy Child Protection Officer (Kakuma based)Reporting directly to the Child Protection Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensure that Unaccompanied/Separated/orphaned children are identified and successfully fostered upon arrival in Kakuma refugee camp.
* Assess and identify the legal and psychosocial needs of children in the camp
* In collaboration with other agencies, assist foster families obtain documents for legal custody of children in their care.
* In collaboration with other agencies facilitate reunification of unaccompanied/separated children with their relatives.
* Manage and maintain documentation and records of cases for legal custody for the purposes of follow up and referral.
* Prepare and submit weekly/monthly/quarterly and feature reports as required.
* Collaborate with other LWF sectors and implementing partners to ensure smooth Coordination of activities
Qualifications:
* Must have a degree Law
* At least 2 years experience in child protection in a humanitarian setting
* Experience in developing child protection tools and facilitating trainings on child protection and related issues.
* Post graduate diploma in child care and development will be an advantage.
* Training in child counseling skills is an added advantage
* Experience in proposal development, planning and implementation of child focused projects.
* Excellent communication, organization and presentation and leadership skills
* Experience in the use of computer packages
