Reproductive health Uganda (RHU), formerly the Family Planning Association of Uganda (FPAU), is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the world’s largest sexual and reproductive health body. It is a not-for-profit and non-discriminatory Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Its mission is to promote high quality, high impact and gender-sensitive sexual and reproductive health and rights information and services for vulnerable and most at risk population of young people (15 - 30 years) in Uganda through capacity building, specialized service delivery, issue-specific advocacy and strategic partnerships.
RHU is implementing a one year project aiming at improving reproductive, maternal and newborn health of vulnerable people in Mbale district. It will provide the target group access to the services through Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) services and scaling up of Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART). The project is being funded by DfID
RHU is seeking for qualified persons to fill the following positions for the project
Post: Clinical Officer (1Post)
Duty Station: Mbale
Reports to: Branch In charge
Job Purpose: To perform the task of Clinical Officer for the Mbale RHU
Clinic, with a focus on PMTCT and ART
Core Responsibilities
1. Provide clinical care to none infected and HIV clients in the Clinic including:
• Management of opportunistic Infections
• Staging of HIV patients for Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) eligibility
• Initiating patients on ART
• Managing complications of ART
• Initiation and monitoring of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis
2. Refer clients as necessary to defined referral point(s)
3. Analyze and utilize data to improve PMTCT and ART services at RHU health units
4. Maintain accurate medical records and other data collection as required for record
keeping, monitoring and evaluation within the clinic and other health delivery settings
5. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Experience, Skills and Abilities Required
• Proven experience in providing PMTCT and other aspects of HIV management including management of opportunistic infections
• Ability to deliver integrated reproductive health care, including counseling for family planning and HIV, management of STIs, minor surgical procedures including permanent and long term methods of family planning, surgical circumcision and uncomplicated obstetric/ gynecological procedures, including delivery
• Ability to manage common tropical illnesses as well as minor trauma, and have resuscitation skills
• Administrative experience, including generating and maintaining accurate records
• Training skills
Qualifications
• Diploma qualification as a practicing clinical officer from a recognized and nationally accredited health institute, Certified with Allied Medical Council of Uganda, and of good standing.
• A Bachelor of Nursing degree in clinical medicine and community health will be an added advantage
• Fluent in Lugisu or Luganda/Lusoga
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook are required
Post: Accounts Assistant (1 Post)
Duty Station: Mbale
Job Role: Maintain Project Accounts, Logistics and Supplies in line with the project
funding agreement/financial procedures
Reports to: Service Provider In-Charge
Core Responsibilities
1. Verify all project payments to ensure accuracy, correctness and compliance to set procedures
2. Write and maintain accurate books of accounts
3. Prepare timely periodic financial reports
4. Maintain logistical and stores record according to RHU guidelines
5. Plan, monitor and budget for commodity requirements and purchasing, and commodity distribution
6. Ensure regular budget follow-up and budget revisions when necessary
7. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Experience and Skills required
• Not less than three years in the field of Accounting
• Skilled in checking accuracy of invoices and bills
• Skilled in computing deductions for statutory funds
• Skilled in posting expenditure to relevant ledgers
• Skilled in releasing advances for program implementation
• Skilled in writing and balancing financial books
• Skilled in analyzing, forecasting and monitoring consumption patterns
• Skilled in preparing for the financial audit
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Commerce, Finance from a recognized Institution or professional qualifications e.g. ACCA, ACPA
• Previous NGO experience will be an added advantage

Duty Station: Mbale
Reports to: Service Provider In-charge
Job Role: To provide quality Sexual and Reproductive Health services including maternity or family planning to clients according to Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines
Core Responsibilities
• Sensitize educate or counsel potential clients on HIV/AIDS including PMTCT and other SRH issues,
• Provide appropriate integrated VCT/HCT, Sexual & Reproductive Health including ART services to clients at delivery points
• Offer maternity services
• Refer clients as required to defined referral point(s)
• Collect and keep records of clients according to recommended service statistics manual
• Analyze and utilize data to inform and improve service delivery at health delivery points
• Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Experience, Skills and Abilities required
• Excellent communication and counseling skills
• skills in diagnosing client medical conditions
• Skilled in assisting childbirth
• Competence in managing reproductive health issues and issues regarding youth sexuality
• Ability to provide quality SRH services
• Ability to produce and submit reports to relevant authority within set deadlines
• Willingness to work on the night shift
• At least two years practical skill and experience in reproductive health service delivery is vital
Qualifications
• Registered Midwife (double training will be an added advantage)
• Knowledge of local language is essential
• Basic computer skills are desirable
Post: Medical Doctor (1Post)
Duty Station: Mbale
Reports to: Branch In charge
Job Purpose: To perform the task of session (part-time) Doctor for the Mbale RHU
Clinic, with a focus on long term and Permanent family planning, deliveries, PMTCT and ART
Core Responsibilities
1. Competently provide long term and permanent family planning methods, and antenatal care, delivery care and post natal care, PMTCT and ART services at the RHU health unit
2. Periodically provide clinical care to none infected, and HIV clients in the Mbale clinic including:
• Staging of HIV patients for Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) eligibility
• Managing complications of ART
3. Manage common tropical illnesses, conduct minor surgery, including preventive circumcision and surgical trauma
4. Maintain accurate medical records and other data collection as required for record
keeping, monitoring and evaluation within the clinic and other health delivery settings
5. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Experience, Skills and Abilities Required
• Proven experience in providing long term and permanent family planning methods, and monitoring and conducting supervised deliveries
• Ability to deliver integrated reproductive health care, including counseling for family planning and HIV, management of STIs, surgical circumcision and uncomplicated obstetric/ gynecological procedures, including delivery

• Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine (Mb,Ch.B) from recognized institution, with at least 3 years of post qualification exposure to surgical/ obstetrics/gynaecology and experience in general medicine
