Brief: Camps International seeks to employ an experienced Logistics Manager to head their East African operation. The role encompasses a wide range of skills; a sound mechanical and engineering background is essential. The individual will have good interpersonal skills and a proven experience running a ‘field team’ in safari locations.

The ability to improvise, keep cool under pressure and deliver at all costs is essential to fulfilling this challenging roll.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the logistics team including mechanics, storekeeper, drivers, and security guards.
  • Provide training and orientation to field staff on matters related to logistics.
  • Procure materials and make sure service delivery at field locations as per Company policy, procedure and quality.
  • Oversee the management of a transport fleet and allocation and ensure that all sites & departments have reasonable controlled access to vehicles for work purposes.
  • Implement the CI Africa procurement policy and procedures.
  • Ensure the timely vehicle maintenance and service; follow up fuel utilization and keep records.  
  • Follow up and manage a preventative maintenance program of Company equipment and assets through all East African locations.
  • Monitor HR elements of logistics team and ensure annual leave and individual welfare is managed in correctly.
  • Monitor storage transactions by storekeeper organize and conduct monthly and annual inventory reports for senior management.
  • Maintain records of vehicle procurement and inventory documents in a transparent and professional way.
  • Provide materials price list and quotes for Operations staff quarterly and also upon request.
  • Ensure that CI receives quality goods and services at the most competitive prices/rates.
  • Establish a reasonable and appropriate lead-time for ordering and delivery of goods.
  • Assist in the development of field program budgets by providing cost information for supplies and material.
  • Prepare and submit to the Operations Manager and FC weekly and monthly reports on general procurement activities containing details of all completed purchases and outstanding payment requests.
  • Perform other duties when ordered by Director, Operations Manager and Financial Controller

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in management, accounting, purchasing and supplies management.
  • Proven skills in logistics, HR, transport operations and mechanics.
  • Excellent English, Swahili comprehension and communication skills.
  • Logistics experience with an international NGO is advantageous.
  • Good organizational and reporting skills.
